S’mores Hot Chocolate Recipe

It was a Monday night, there was literally nothing to do, so I was like, “I’m gonna make a pointless dessert that I found on Pinterest.” So that’s exactly what I did.

The recipe that I used, toasted marshmallow hot chocolate, concocted by a blog titled “Brown Sugar Toast” looked super delicious and wonderful. I went to the store and bought all of the ingredients since I didn’t have them at hand:

Hot Chocolate
Mini Marshmallows
Graham Crackers
Chocolate syrup for drizzling, optional

So here’s what happened.

Set your oven to broil first, before you forget!
Pick a cute mug. Or two, or four, or how ever many servings you wanted to make.
Make some hot chocolate in a separate container.
Crush the graham crackers into tiny pieces. I used the bottom of a cup to do that.
Take a single mini marshmallow, and rub it around the rim of your mug, making it sticky with gooey marshmallow.
Dip (is that the right word?) the mug into the graham cracker crumbs. They should stick to the rim because of the marshmallow stickiness.
Pour your freshly made hot chocolate into the cup, leaving about an inch from the top in order to fit the marshmallows.
Fill the rest of the cup with aforementioned marshmallows.
Place the mug(s) onto a pan. Don’t just put them in the oven. They won’t balance properly and they might spill which would be heartbreaking.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR OVEN DURING THIS PART. The marshmallows roast very fast, and it won’t be long before it burns profusely.
Watch the marshmallows, and when they are a golden brown color, or whatever your preferred marshmallow roasted-ness is, take them out with an oven mitt so that you don’t burn your little fingers.
The mug shouldn’t be too hot, so you can chill about that.
Drizzle some chocolate syrup on top of it for garnish. (Optional, but I don’t see why anyone would want to skip this step.)
Take a picture of it and put it on Instagram or Tumblr or whatever social media you have the most followers on.

Enjoy your DIY marshmallow hot chocolate!
