Viners make it big

Vine has been established since around October of 2012. It’s hard to believe, but the app is almost three-years-old at this point! In that time, it’s proved to have multiple uses: People use it to cover news, companies use it to make ads, demonstrate their music skills, and- as the most popular option- it’s used to make quick, six-second comedy performances.

Even celebrities have a Vine; celebrities from our childhoods, such as Josh Peck, who starred in everyone’s favorite Drake and Josh, use Vine to stay “hip and cool,” so to say. However, even the Average Joe can become something like a C-List celebrity on Vine, and accumulate millions or even billions of followers.

Famous viners to achieve this status include Thomas Sanders, Jessi Smiles, Brandon Bowen, Lele Pons, and Logan Paul. Collaborations between famous viners isn’t uncommon.

Viners are being labeled and acknowledged as celebrities due partially to the attention Vine itself is getting, but also because prominent celebrities will sometimes do collaborations with them. For example, Brandon Bowen collaborated with Josh Peck in a vine, and Thomas Sanders has created vines starring both Sean Bean and Stacy London.
Vine and it’s celebritization is an unusual phenomenon that no one expected, it’s certainly one that’s welcomed and endlessly entertaining.
