NBA hits Off-season

The Utah Jazz finished the 2015 NBA season with a record of 38-44. They look to make a big improvement next season after this year’s offseason.

The offseason consists of the NBA draft, summer leagues, and the free agency. This is a time for teams to pick up new players and for current players to jump around the league.

The NBA draft will be held on June 25 where the top prospects will have a chance at the pros.

Last year’s draft class has had a huge impact on the league this last season with No. 2 overall pick last year Andrew Wiggins winning this season’s Rookie of the Year Award. Rookies Zach LaVine, KJ McDaniels, Elfrid Payton, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Jusuf Nurkic all had a huge impact on the NBA this season.

These rookies and players will have a chance to improve and prove themselves in this year’s summer league.

Utah will be hosting a summer league from July 6 to the ninth. Participating teams include the Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs, and the Boston Celtics.

Another important part of the offseason is the Free agency. This is a time when teams can pick up players whose contract has expired with other teams. Some big name free agents this year include Wesley Matthews, Paul Millsap, Kevin Love, and Kawhi Leonard.
