What is News?
According to wiki’s definition of “News”
News is information about current events. This may be provided through many different media: word of mouth, printing, postal systems, broadcasting, electronic communication, or through the testimony of observers and witnesses to events. Common topics for news reports include war, government, politics, education, health, the environment, economy, business, fashion, and entertainment, as well as athletic events, quirky or unusual events
This sums up what we do here. Discovering, Investigating, and Reporting Stories is what the Herriman Telegraph aims to do. Plenty happens in high school and around the world that needs to be said!
What is the Telegraph doing?
Like a traditional staff, The Herriman Telegraph meets twice weekly to discuss and plan for new stories or podcasts to conduct. During class, we also work on individual projects such as advertising, physical copy layouts, and illustrations. Every once in a while we’ll publish physical copies of our stories which can be found on our website here, in the library, main offices, or with your English teacher.
Our Aim for Credibility?
We as a staff have addressed this before in an article, and not much has changed! We aim to bring news that the student body can rely on, to quote that article:
“[O]ur mission for the student body: To let others know more about the world around them so that they might be more educated on the topics that are surfacing constantly in this day and age. We encourage our readers to explore and further read into topics that perk their interests, after all, the world is full of many stories and research that could prove useful in life.”
