Today I am interviewing a student from Herriman high school. Austin Watson is a junior going into senior year this upcoming fall, he’s passionate about playing on the Herriman High rugby team, playing Minecraft and fishing. I took the time to ask him some questions about his experience here at Herriman High. 

How school has changed due to the whole Covid pandemic 

We had to wear masks to prevent the spread of Covid 19 and especially having to go online for a quarter of the year.

How has rugby been a challenge you and the team faced especially with the pandemic going on? 

It’s been good we won state a couple of weeks ago and the challenges we faced was we didn’t know if we were going to play any games this year like how last year was canceled. But we have nationals coming up in three weeks and we have a chance to win it all this year especially for my seniors.

How did you know Herriman rugby was right for you?  

The brotherhood and how everyone on the team has your back no matter what and the valuable lesson the coaches teach us about life and the game of rugby and just how we bond and get along. It’s like a big family and it’s something no other sport will give. I highly recommend joining the rugby team trust me you wont regret it.

How did online school affect your mental health when lockdown happened last spring? 

Being in lockdown was pretty tough especially being inside all day just doing school and being bored it was pretty fun for a week and then it was driving me crazy but working out kept me sane so it was a win win i guess but overall it was pretty tough especially online school it was very new and hard when the teach didn’t know how to use it or set uo canvas and now it’s part of our lessons in school.
