Solar powered roadways

New technology is continuously improving at a rate that is mind boggling. One of the newest, and surely one of the coolest, is solar powered roads. Harvesting sunlight and conducting it into electricity to produce lines, marking, and letterings that are originally painted. These hexagon shaped panels are tough and strong enough to be walked on, biked on, and even parked on.

Cooler yet, they can be programmed to project different images if there were to be in need of a change. They can withstand up to 250,000 pounds of force. They even have the ability to warm up to a certain degree to melt snow and ice.

These amazing and unbelievably cool roadways were designed and created by Julie and Scott Brusaw. They’re both electrical engineers with big dreams. The first real idea the married couple had was to bring solar panels harvest electricity from parking lots and highways.

No more messy construction with filling cement and paving and driving and waiting and waiting and waiting for it all to be done. Construction with the solar panel roads would only take an estimate of a month to put together, despite the ordinary road work construction which can take multiple months.

So where is all of this taking place? Sandpoint, Idaho is the main point on the revolution of this technology.

One day, businesses will generate enough energy and electricity from their parking lot to power their workspace. “Whatever parking lot you have would feed the building,” Brusaw explained in news.discovery.com/solar-powered-roads .
The Brusaws believe that their technology can transform U.S. highways and cityscapes into a network of energy safe, durable, and less expensive to maintain. To be worry free from any cracks or potholes will truly be the next big thing.
