Texting and driving continues to be a problem

Cell phones are something that almost everyone has, and something everyone feels that they need. Although cell phones are great and have many uses, they do not have a use behind the wheel of a car.
In 2011, the risk of crashing while texting was 23% according to Texting and Driving Statistics.
According to a 2014 study by the Department of Transportation, cellphones are involved in 1.3 million accidents a year. This leads to about 6,000 deaths. Is a text message worth it? Most people who text and drive, don’t remember the text they were sending just moments after.

10% of teens who text and drive are not in their lane when using their cellphone, according to dosomething.org. Driving a vehicle is not a game, many people seem to forget that they are operating something incredibly dangerous and potentially even lethal.
Automobile accidents are the 9th leading cause of death in America. Is a text message worth a life? No. Texting and driving is an epidemic that needs to stop.
