Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is the frosting on your Netflix cake

If you’re a Netflix addict, like most of us are, you’ve probably anticipated the release of all the new Netflix originals that came out earlier this month. Along with a new season of House of Cards, multiple stand-up comedy specials and the ongoing obsession with the release of Friends, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has swept Netflix users off their feet.

At first glance, the show looks like just another quirky, “New Girl-esque” comedy, but once you press play, Kimmy’s hilariously cute world unfolds before you.

The story begins with Kimmy (played by Ellie Kemper), who’s lived in an underground bunker with three other women and a crazy reverend for fifteen years, convinced that the apocalypse had happened. Once she broke free of the cult, she started living her life in New York City with her wanna-be-broadway star-roommate, Titus. Unfamiliar with the modern world, Kimmy sees everything with enthusiastic eyes and Titus helps her catch up, while Kimmy keeps Titus inspired and encourages him to never give up.

Kimmy eventually gets a job as a nanny for one of the rich families in Manhattan, starts working towards getting her GED, and lands a super cute Korean boyfriend.

Written and produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock of 30 Rock, you know that the show will bring lots of quirky, clever laughs. I give Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt 5/5 stars!
