Boy’s Soccer team shoots for playoffs

The mustangs boys’ soccer team are halfway through the 2015 season. Herriman has an overall record of 5-3-3.

When asked about what’s different about this year’s team David Robinson (‘15) said, “The chemistry, it’s pretty good. We have come a lot closer and work harder as a team.”

Preseason wins came against Hunter, West Jordan and Stansbury. Herriman lost to Taylorsville in a close game. In these four games the Mustangs scored six goals and conceited only 3.

Herriman opened region play against Westlake. In an exciting game that went into double overtime, the Mustangs tied the Thunder 0-0.

The rest of the season has included two wins against Lehi and Pleasant Grove, two losses against Lehi and Lone Peak and a two ties against rivals Riverton High and the Westlake Thunder. Both of these games went into double overtime and resulted in a 1-1 draw.

As of right now, the Mustangs sit in the 5th spot of region four, which would make them eligible for the playoffs.

When asked about playoffs this season Coach Ryan Mitchell said, “We should make playoffs this year, it will be very disappointing if we don’t.”

Herriman looks forward to the rest of the season with confidence and determination. They hope to make a statement in the postseason and show that the team is a force to be reckoned with.
