Boy’s golf wraps up a satisfying year

Coach Price and the boys made their best run at the state tournament this year.

Herriman finished in 5th place just behind Riverton, one spot away from punching their ticket to state.

There is no need for the golf team to be upset according to three-year-veteran-golfer Dexter Colemere (‘15)

“We all played really well out there, but they just played a little better,” Colemere said.

Since the school has been opened, only individuals have qualified for state. The boys will look to rebound and go as a team next year.

Herriman’s advantage over its’ rival Riverton is the overall experience. All of this year’s varsity golfers also competed on varsity last season.

Key returning seniors from the 2013 season included Connor Lightfoot, Dexter Colemere, and Braeden Jeppson.

“These kids are awesome. Our seniors have been stepping up and getting the job done,” Coach Price said.

One of the notable matches this year was the Mountainview tournament. Led by the two team captains Lightfoot, and Jeppson, all five players shot under 80 which has never been done before in school history.
