With the longest season, Herriman High’s swim team has gained, lost, and kept some extraordinary players this year. It takes an athletic and strong-hearted person to be on this team.

“​They had to swim a 50, 100, 200, 500, and 200 IM.  It’s all about finding out their times and if they can finish a race,” says Coach Michael Goldhart when he describes the tryouts.

“​We practice every morning from 5:00 – 7:00 a.m. at the Pool.  Where we swim about 3 miles a day. We work out at Rosecrest Park on Mondays after school, in the weight room on Tuesday to Thursday after school, and in November we start Saturday practices,”​ explained Goldhart.

“Being on the team for four years straight, the hardest part is still waking up at 4:15 every morning and working super hard, then going straight to school after and trying to stay awake,” says Ciarra Green (‘15).

As hard as it is, the players seem to love doing it.

“Swimming motivates me to do a sport and I like it a lot,” said Spencer Ohlson (‘16).

Much like other sports teams at our high school, the friendships that are formed are unbreakable. The time they spend with each other, bonds them in a way you can’t get from just anywhere.

Coach Goldhart mentioned how much potential there is for this year’s team. The boys have pretty big shoes to fill, but by the looks of it, they will make it.

The team loves the support they get from their peers with the current season going on. Keep in mind it ends Feb. 12 (which is state), so let’s be there and cheer on our amazing swim team.
