Girl’s Basketball

Herriman High Girls’ basketball aims for a very successful season this year.

The season started off on Nov. 20 at Kearns High School, with a loss of 54-37. The Lady Mustangs then had a game on Nov. 21 at Hillcrest where they won 49-25,  where Sarah Duncan (‘16) scored 13 of the 49 points. Kaylie King (‘15) also added 9 points while pulling down six rebounds.

The team has found a way to really get along this year with each other as well as the coaches, and they push each other to show up and fight for every win.

“The team aspect of the game and the coaches, I especially love the team we have this year,” King said.

Their next win came on Dec. 2 against Wasatch. Alexi Smith (‘15) scored 20 points and Sarah Duncan added 11 more points as the Mustangs beat Wasatch 46-41.

On Dec 16 Herriman took down Cottonwood 47-42, with Smith, and freshman Milee Enger (‘18) scoring 15 points apiece.

“I love the competitiveness in practice and the games. I love being able to fight and battle every single second,” Enger (‘18) said.

The team has some goal and weaknesses they have been working on. “Winning region, and playing as a team,” are just a couple, according to Smith.

With Lone Peak coming up next on Jan 7 the team will have to put all their weaknesses behind them and look ahead to be the best that they can be.
