You Will Be Found

“Guys like you and me, we’re just the losers, who keep waiting to be seen, right? I mean no one seems to care, or stops to notice that we’re there so we get lost, in the in-between. But, if you can somehow keep them thinking of me, and make me more than an abandoned memory, well that means we matter too. It means someone will see that you are there. No one deserves to be forgotten. No one deserves to fade away. No one should come and go, and have no one know he was ever even here, no one deserves to disappear.”

-¨Disappear¨, Dear Evan Hansen, 2015.

These lyrics are from the musical, Dear Evan Hansen. Written by Steven Levenson in 2015, Dear Evan Hansen has been critically acclaimed as, “A smart, soulful depiction of teen solitude graced by both gentle humor and raw feeling,” by David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter. Steven Levenson focused this musical on mental health and the good and bad effects of high school. With the movie version of Dear Evan Hansen that was released on September 24, 2021, has been highly refocused on and has been discovered by people outside of the Broadway community.

The morals and meanings in this show are unbelievably amazing. Millions have been touched by the songs written by Justin Paul and Benj Pasek.

¨Have you ever felt like nobody was there? Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere? Have you ever felt like you could disappear? Like you could fall, and no one would hear?¨

-¨You Will Be Found, Dear Evan Hansen, 2015.

These songs have such important messages and quotes whose goal is to reach out to those who are suffering, with low self esteem, and going through hard times.

Throughout the years, this musical has deeply connected with so many people and saved the lives of many vulnerable listeners who resonated with the sincere messaging. “Dear Evan Hansen, thank you for saving my life,” one person wrote to the cast. “I woke up two days ago wanting to do something really stupid. I’ve never felt so understood and cared for.” That quote was published by TIME Magazine, along with, ¨I brought our 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son to the show. Their older sister died by suicide a little over a year ago. We are still devastated, but it helps us when people talk about mental illness with understanding and compassion.”

If you feel lonely, unmotivated, broken, and just living each day in pain, I cannot express how much I recommend this musical, and the movie that was recently released back in September 2021! The soundtrack is on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and every other streaming service, and you can still go watch the movie in theatres!

¨Even when the dark comes crashing through, when you need a friend to carry you, and when you’re broken on the ground, you will be found. So let the sun come streaming in’, cause you’ll reach up and you’ll rise again. Lift your head and look around. You will be found.¨
