Jeffery Epstein, born on Jan 20, 1953, began his career as a teacher at Dalton school in New York city. He was dismissed in 1976 due to “poor performance” and because he hadn’t “grown as a teacher.” After he was fired he moved on to banking and financing. Working at Bear Stearns, he started as a low-level assistant to a floor trader before quickly climbing the ranks becoming an opinions trader-working in the special productions division, advising some of the banks most wealthiest clients on tax mitigations. Only four years after joining the firm, Epstein became a limited partner but in 1981 he was let go after his sworn testimony. He was implicated in a Reg D violation, meaning he exceeded the six-per-month limit for convenient transfers from savings or money market accounts. That caused him to go on to create his own firm giving him access to move among some of the world’s most elite social circles.
In 2005 police would start investigating Jeffrey Epstein after reports of him sexually abusing a 14 year old girl in Palm Beach Florida, Federal officials would identify 36 other females as young as 14 years old who claimed Epstein allegedly sexually assaulted them. By 2008 Epstein would plead guilty to procuring a child for prostitution as well as soliciting a child for sexual activities. He would be convicted of these crimes, but he reached a plea deal granted by the Department of Justice. He would only serve 13 months in custody with the ability to come and go as he pleased on work release. Generally individuals convicted of sex crimes are excluded from work release programs.
Jeffery would be arrested again on July 6, 2019 on federal charges for sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York. Only a month later on August 10 2019 under sucicide watch Epstein would be found hanging in his cell. This sparked a lot of public skepticism about Epstein’s death. A year later Ghislaine Maxwell would be arrested on July 2, 2020 by the FBI. Ghislaine, Epstein’s former girlfriend and convicted co-conspirator was found guilty of 5 out of 6 charges relating to predatory behavior and child trafficking. In Sept 2025 the U.S house committee would release a scrapbook to the public, composed of letters, photos, and drawings made by Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday. Titled “The First Fifty Years”, this book implicated around 50 high-profile people. One person mentioned in the book is U.S. president Donald Trump. In 2002, he informed the New York Times of Epstein and his former relationship stating, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” Also included in the book were former president Bill Clinton and Peter Mandelson, a UK Ambassador who is referred to as his “best pal” causing him to resign after the birthday book’s release.
While further investigation is going on, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has files composed of millions of pages of media, log and records as well as physical evidence, notes and reports written by the FBI. On Nov 19, 2025 a law signed by President Donald Trump called the Epstein files Transparency Act. This mandated the Attorney General to release all classified Department of Justice records related to Jeffery Epstein by Dec 19, 2025. Missing the deadline added more scrutiny to the handling of the Epstein files and the victims pursuit of justice. In spite of the Transparency Act only a small amount of the 5.2 million pages were released, around 550 pages. 110 pages were completely redacted and blacked out causing further scrutiny and criticism from the public. While this is still ongoing it pushes more questions about Jeffery Epstein’s connections to powerful people as well as pushing justice for the victims.
