Herriman didn’t wait too long to get on the scoreboard, getting a field goal just a few minutes into the first quarter. Even though the Mustangs were the team getting the most chances offensively, they struggled at the beginning to get into the endzone. After the first quarter, Herriman lead Jordan 3-0.

After another field goal in the second quarter, all the field lights went off and the game was delayed. The Herriman student section stayed lively and continued to chant and sing to keep the energy in the stadium. When the lights came back on, the leaders added another touchdown to end the first half winning 13-0.

Two touchdowns in the third quarter kept Herriman in the lead, and despite the rain and cold weather, the team continued to play hard. One more field goal in the 4th quarter closed the game out continuing the Mustangs hot streak and continuing the ‘Diggers winless season.

This win will hopefully help boost the confidence of the Mustangs as they search for a second state championship. Next week Herriman will play in Salt Lake City against East High School in another region game. East is coming off a close 14-16 loss to the Bingham Miners.
