HERRIMAN – Have you ever wondered what life is like going back to school as an athlete? Anastasia Estrada, the varsity soccer goalkeeper, talks about the back-to-school season as a student-athlete at Herriman High School and why it is important to be able to manage both.
The athlete said coming back to school was hard and annoying. A lot of hard things happened last school year but soccer has definitely helped her. It’s her place away from everything, away from stress and anxiety.
“It’s different for me because I came in with a different mindset,” Estrada stated. She came with a different attitude and mindset that made it so she actually wanted to get out of bed and go to school.
Estrada said the competitiveness and the love you see when people play is what she finds interesting. “Some people have so much love you can tell by the way they play and by the way they act,”
She says it is stressful and it’s tiring, but at the end of the day, that’s what she loves to do; it makes her forget everything bad from school. “It’s a way out of stressfulness so you don’t have to go home and be grumpy to your family.” She says you can go to soccer and get it out.
It takes a lot of help for her from a lot of people. We should take Estrada’s way of teamwork to be united as one for a better future and for better success.
