Herriman High School has always been a great place for Creative Arts, especially in the music scene. Thriving and growing with new aspiring artists and bands like “Diona”, “Ana Karina” and “My Pet Spider”.
“Diona” has made a name for themselves in the Herriman high school music scene, from making their debut in their freshman year at Mountain Creek Middle’s annual talent show two years ago. Igor Silva, a junior at Herriman High, who attended the event described it as “the greatest act of the whole night.” Following that event they went on to play bigger and bigger shows, even coming in second place in the 2025 battle of the bands.
Another band originating around a Herriman school lunch table is “My Pet Spider”. With three out of five members attending Herriman High School. This band made a name for themselves in the Herriman scene by playing local shows with bands “Chess Club” and “Safe In Silence” from Mountain Ridge High School. To this day they continue to play shows and post updates on their instagram where they’ve amassed over 4,500 followers. On July 12, 2025, they released a single titled: “I Am Not Scared” on all platforms. They also have their debut self titled album previous to the single released on May 5, 2025, which contained songs they made when they had first become a band experimenting with their sound. These contributions and involvement in the Salt Lake and Herriman Community have led these bands to where they are today.
Former bands from Herriman like “Eardrums”, “Manifold” and “The Burnout Society”, all forming in 2022, introduced many younger musicians and students by playing shows in their backyards and giving out CDs to people for free which lead to a surge of creativity in the school that created a gateway between the music scene and Herriman High. Now students attend local gigs almost every weekend and some even go as far to make magazines, do informational scene videos, interviews and even set up shows of their own. This shows that—especially in a place like Herriman High—creativity lives and thrives. Things you can do to support your local scene are: take pictures and videos, book shows, start a band, buy a local band’s merch or go to a show; things like this help drastically and keep the scene alive.
If you are wondering how to get involved in your scene there are many promoters and show bookers you can follow within the valley. @savemefrommyroom.booking, @jozpresents, and @hyphaproductions on instagram for example. These are all promoters that set up local shows almost weekly. Expect good music, crazy mosh pits and nice people everywhere. If that’s something that interests you then get involved and help grow and support your local artists and scene as a whole.
