MAC “Rocky Horror” makeup dupes

In celebration of The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 50th anniversary, MAC cosmetics decided to release a brand new limited edition makeup collection. If you’re a lover of the spookier things in life, you’ve probably been waiting for this collection to release since the announcement hit social media on Sept. 2.

With the release of a new eyeshadow palette, four new lipsticks, a new eye pigment, and a signature nail color, every makeup enthusiast wanted to get their hands on this collection. If you waited and got on MAC’s website to buy the line like I did, you had to face the harsh reality of the collection selling out. No lipsticks, no eyeshadows, nothing! The entire line was sold out within the first day of the line dropping.

So, since I still have the dream of making myself look like Magenta and Dr. Frank N Furter, and since we are going on a high schooler’s budget, I’ve compiled a list of cheap dupes (something similar to the original product) for this spooky collection. Plus, why spend so much money when you can create the same looks for so much cheaper?

Let’s start with the Riff Raff eyeshadow palette. This palette has six different shades in it and was priced on MAC’s website for $44. The first shade in the palette is “Oh Rocky!”, a muted white with a pearl finish. Then there’s “Heavy, Black and Pendulous” and “Graphic Style,” the first being a grey-blue shade with a pearl finish, and the second being a deep silver which can be used wet to get a more distinct metallic finish, or used dry to create a more subtle sparkle. Finally, we end the palette with a signature MAC color, “Carbon Black,” which is simply a very pigmented black.

Next up are the main attractions for this collection, the lipsticks! Going for $17.50, these gems were the first to sell. Our first shade (and my personal favorite), “FrankNFurter” is a perfect red lipstick with blue undertones, which looks amazing on every skin tone. Next we have “Oblivion,” which is a very vivid red with a little sparkle. “Strange Journey”  is the last limited edition lip color in this line and it’s more of a orangey brick red.

Straying away from the eyes and the lips, this collection brings forth a couple of products for the rest of your face and cheeks. The blush, “Crazed Imagination” is considered a muted plum with a pink pearl. Have no fear, it applies a little softer than it appears in the pan. This blush alone costs $24.00. If you’re looking for a contour/highlight duo, MAC also released the Sculpt and Shape powder duo for $27.50 Tine also features two jars of glitter for you to use on your eyes, eyebrows, cheekbones or anywhere else you want to sparkle. Coming in “Gold” and “3D Black”, these glitters sell for $23.00 a pop.
